Rapid Supply Chain Audit
Anglo-Hungarian consultancy 3D Logistics announces the launch of this new service to meet a growing requirement from fund managers and investors
The Product
The 3DL Rapid Supply Chain Audit (RSCA) is a process audit, using elements of Design for Six Sigma and Dynamic Path Management. The aim is to analyse the operational functions of the greater supply chain, how well these are operated, and what improvements can be made. The audit breaks the supply chain into functional objects and analyses how those objects interact.
The Target Market:
Managers, fund managers and investors of growing companies, typically pre-IPO, turnover up to US$250 million.
Why?
Supply Chain is a frequently neglected area in growth companies and investors. The reasons for this can include
·
Management focus on sales growth, marketing etc, resulting in lower priority in terms of management time, resources and finance
·
Lack of understanding of the flexible outcomes offered by supply chain alternatives
·
Different strategic and tactical view from management and investors
·
A perception that it only concerns larger companies
A well-tuned supply chain supports the business plans in terms of cash flow, asset requirement, and return on investment. The 3DL audit allows the investor to validate ‘best use of funds’ while also considering what the company needs for continued growth. During different periods of a company’s development, different supply chain strategies may be appropriate, for instance to enable:
·
Release of cash into the business (e.g. inventory or staff reduction)
·
Reduction of on-going cost (Process streamlining, reduced lead times. Lower levels of inventory lower staff costs, operational efficiencies)
·
Platform for expansion
·
Creation of competitive advantage (faster response time, increased customer satisfaction, etc)
·
Release of assets (e.g. cut warehousing space, streamlined distribution)
·
Better recovery on assets at time of exit (trading down, minimising loss diminishing business.)
‘Company doctor’ Ivan Couchman says: “The 3DL service really shows the impact of a supply chain on both margin and service. On my last assignment they helped me release assets and take the company to operating profit while still improving service levels”
